Has anyone watched Pushing Daisies? Because I just finished watching the episodes that are out so far (thank you Rocky! Even though you don't let me watch the whole thing already and keep me waiting instead! XD) and I very, very much love the lead character, Ned! The pie-maker is so-- there's no other word for it now-- adorable.
When I first heard of the series I didn't have a clue how it could build up on having Ned have the ability to touch dead people and bringing them back to life. I thought it was a just a police/detective kind of show, with the victims being the first-hand witnesses. It is that, but with the rules preset in place to curb Ned's ability, such a minute's grace period before something else dies in place of the newly living, and that a second touch renders said newly living dead forever, there are immediate complications.
With those and characters that send me giggling alone as I watch on the PC, I'm happily hooked. Watching irresistibly cute Ned with his puppy demeanor brings out the mothering side in me (it exists!) because I want nothing more than to hug the guy. He'd freak out, considering his 'touchy' issues, but I'd hang on a hug anyway. Because he's cute, and he's even cuter disturbed.
Next to Ned, Emerson rocks my socks. Sarcastic, tough, and undeniably funny in trying to be tough when certain situations arise (like being the only living person in the vicinity when Ned is unable to re-touch a now living dead person for a blood-curdling couple of limited seconds).
There are loopholes to the whole touch-the-dead-come-back-to-life thing, like, how would Ned eat anything cooked and such, but I'm not caring because the wit and humor are saving it points up in my book of funny.
Now if you've read this doody all the way until here, go watch Pushing Daisies! It PWNS!!
